Here are ten of my favorite digital photos I’ve taken in 2021, posted in no particular order. I think I’m really hitting a groove with my skills at this point and I feel confident in my capabilities with my little Olympus camera. Like last year, I’ve learned that with digital photography it’s less about technical skill and more about observation and patience. I think most of my improvement as a photographer this year has come from shooting film. Film has taught me that digital photography isn’t really photography, it’s just one small aspect of it: finding and framing a composition and being patient for light. I mean yeah there is technical skill involved for sure but when you make mistakes with a digital camera, it’s so much easier to fix than than with film. Shooting digitally is such a great way to learn photography, to learn fundamentals, and I’m happy with the decisions I’ve made to get to this point. And although film is expensive and often times stupidly frustrating and difficult, I now have a newfound appreciation for those who have dedicated lifetimes to mastering the art form. I’ve been thinking about maybe starting a separate account for my film photography because there’s a ton of negatives I’ve never shared, and most of it isn’t very good anyway and I don’t wanna clog up this account. I’ll probably make a post about it eventually. Thank you to everyone once again who reaches out to me about my art, I know I sound like a broken record but it really does mean a lot and I really do always appreciate the kind words and comments!
